4Cheap and good for occasional use.Dec 04, 2009
This telescope is OK for a starter telescope for casual usage now and then. The price is good, so you won't be losing too much if it sits in the closet after the first use. The mount and tripod are not real stable, so it's difficult to do fine adjustments without losing the image. But a good quality mount and tripod are going to cost a lot of money, so you get what you pay for. When you do get it focused in on something, the image is good. It works good for terrestrial viewing.

The instructions for this scope are HORRIBLE. It's printed on a really low quality copy machine, and it looks like a copy of a copy of a copy. The images are a blur of black, so you can't see what they are trying to show you. You would think that a company that deals with optics would understand blurry images.
But even if the images were good, the instructions are terrible. There is no mention of how to attach the counterbalance, and from the really poor image which shows it attached, you can't even see where it attaches. There is also an extra knob with no mention of it's existence, or what to do with it. At one point it says to do 3 things in the order given, but in order to do #1, you have to do #3 first.

Go to the following website and watch the video. It is much better than the instructions, and explains everything, including where to put the extra knob:

[...]

So forget the included instructions and go straight to the video and you will have a much better experience and will be enjoying this scope much faster. It's a good buy and a good amateur scope.

This is a reasonably good (not great) telescope. The optics are very good. However, the stand is shaky. So, adjusting the scope is challenging.
