Excellent Scope, Great Value.Mar 27, 2008 I received this as a Christmas present. I use it almost exclusively for bird watching from inside my house, through a large window. It's tripod mounted, and perfectly balanced. It doesn't tend to drop forward like other large scopes. With the standard adaptors, a small Chickadee at 50 feet completly fills the scope's field of view. I can see even the tiniest details. I love this scope!

Good, but not perfectJan 23, 2006 The primary reason I bought this scope was to do photography, and it's nice for that. I've used it to take pictures, and they come out nicely, but the scope is -big- and I'm having trouble finding an appropriate carrying case for it, which is a bit of a pain. I'd have gladly paid more for the scope had it come with a custom case.
That said, it's lighter than you'd expect, and I had to buy macro ring extenders to be able to take photos closer than 40' or so (the description when I purchased it said 15' minimum focal length. If all you're looking for is a scope, this is very nice for the price (but useless without a very solid tripod). If you're looking for photography adaptation, it's a little complicated and will definitely require those macro adapters. This makes for complicated field work, figuring out which macro adapters (if any) to use, depending on the distance of the object.
That said, I -am- very happy with this scope.
